Join illustrator Claire Loon Baldwin and discover how a year-round nature sketchbook can inspire your creative practice, complement your writing practice, and help you get unstuck! Using watercolor pencils and ink, students will apply color theory principles to capture local ecology color palettes, generate fresh writing, and render landscapes quickly and creatively. By the end of the workshop, you will have pages of writings and natural science illustrations interwoven with creative writing, and the tools you’ll need to keep your practice going.

Claire Loon Baldwin is an illustrator, designer, and writer inspired by the intricate beauty of nature. She draws inspiration from her experience working as an environmental educator and ranger in Grand Canyon National Park and the redwood forests of California, and strives to spark climate action through her art. Recent notable clients include Down East Magazine and DK Publishing. She has taught workshops weaving ecology with art for Rhode Island School of Design and Merrymeeting Community and Adult Education, and is the Artist in Residence for Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School for the 2024/2025 school year.
